| Dear KGS members
and friends,
Although I receive feedback from time to time on material I include in my letter, I have convinced myself that very few people actually read my letter in each issue. I expected to receive some ribbing about the picture of my “grandchild” in the May/June issue. Things like, “I saw the family resemblance” come to mind. Perhaps you all are being kinder to me in my old age.
The KGS Fishing Tournament was held on May 17, 2002 at the Kingman County State Fishing Lake. Participation was lower than hoped for, but all who went enjoyed the day and caught plenty of fish. Our thanks to Tim Pierce, Mike Maune and Randy Teeter for their efforts in putting on the tournament. We especially want to thank the sponsors of the tournament for their generosity. Some photos and a list of sponsors are on page 15. The Annual KGS Golf Tournament was held on June 17, 2002 at the Hidden Lakes Golf Club near Derby, Kansas. There were 114 golfers on hand to enjoy a great day of golf and camaraderie. Our thanks to Kris Kennedy and his committee for their efforts in providing us with a great day where 75% of the golfers got money back for team score or hole prizes for their individual efforts. Some photos and a list of our generous golf sponsors is on page 22. The next social function for KGS members, families and friends will be the Annual KGS Picnic on August 2, 2002. This year a major change is taking place. Corey Baker, Picnic Chairman, has decided that a change of venue may interject renewed enthusiasm for this family event. This year the Picnic will be held at All Star Sports Entertainment on west 21st street in Wichita. Check out page 17 for all of the details. Let’s try to have a great turnout. Please step up with your financial support, as well as ticket purchases to make this event a great success. Alas, yours truly will HAVE to be at a rehearsal dinner luau in Waikiki. Dang! Our business manager,
Rebecca Radford, notes on her page in this issue that we still have people
leaving E-logs on the top of file cabinets instead of refiling them properly.
PLEASE, those of you who are guilty, do file all library materials back
to their proper locations when you are done with them.
Bye for now, Wes |
