| Dear Members,
It has been a busy spring with some of the “Annual Events” taking place. The Fishing Tournament was held on May 17th and even though it was a windy, chilly day, several diehard fishermen headed out to Kingman State fishing lake and reeled in those bass! Thank you to Tim Pierce and Mike Maune for putting that tournament together! See PAGE 15 for some photos of the day and a list of sponsors. On June 17th, the Golf Tournament took place at Hidden Lakes Golf Course outside Derby. We could not have asked for a more perfect day to have the golf tournament. Not too hot, not too windy, it was hard to believe we were in Kansas! The turnout was great and I think everyone had a good time. Kris Kennedy, Ron Schrader and Mike Reed put this year’s golf tournament together. Good job guys! Be sure to thank them when you see them. Look on PAGE 22 for some photos and a list of sponsors. We now will look forward to the “Annual KGS Picnic” which will be held on Friday evening, August 2nd. The picnic committee decided to try something different this year and has moved the picnic from Joyland to All Star Sports Entertainment. All Star Sports is located at 8333 W. 21st street. See PAGE 17 for more details on this event. I think the committee has found a wonderful place for us to have our picnic. There are plenty of activities for the kids as well as adults and the nicest change is that the ladies can play Bingo in an “Air Conditioned” room! If you have any questions about this change, please feel free to call the library or one of the committee members (Cory Baker, Brian Wilhite, and Mike Maroney). I want to encourage everyone to try to attend as I think this will be a really “fun” evening. Now, back to the more mundane. There has been some complaints about “stapled data”, such as completion cards, that are not being stapled back together after someone has made a copy. Please re-staple any data back together so that it is not lost in the “I wonder what the heck this goes with” pile! It just might be the very information that someone needs to complete their work. Also, whoever is leaving their stack of logs out on the tops of file cabinets…. I’m looking for you! Please try to be considerate of the rest of the membership. If you take logs out, put them back where they belong. You wouldn’t like it if what you were looking for was not where you could find it. The old golden rule applies here. Okay, enough Mother Hen! Please give me a call if you have any suggestions or complaints. Respectfully, |
