McCoy Petroleum Corp., Wichita (KS), has discovered Mississippian gas reserves at a wildcat “show hole” in eastern Ford county, near the Edwards county line. The natural gas strike was made at a successful re-entry and completion of the #1-24 Herman Trust, spotted in C NE NW in section 24-T26S-R21W. The well had been deemed as non-commercial and was plugged and abandoned in 1983. McCoy washed down the old well in May this year to a total depth of 4832 feet. Sterling Drilling tools was contracted to deepen the well to 4870 feet, whereby 4-1/2 inch casing was set two feet off bottom. The well started producing an undisclosed amount of gas from perforations shot in the Mississippian formation effective August 26, 2002. McCoy’s new unnamed gas field is positioned about 1-1/2 miles due west of Mississippian oil and gas production in the Martin North field in Edwards county. Last year McCoy drilled and completed two oil and gas producers on the Marcy ‘A’ lease in the southeast quarter of section 19-T26S-R20W. The two wells have together produced over 19,000 barrels of oil and in excess of 11.8 million cubic feet of natural gas from undisclosed depth. McCoy’s latest strike is located 7-1/2 miles south of Offerle, Kansas. 2) Raydon’s Meade County Discovery Flowed 580 Mcf Gas Daily.....(IOG Weekly 9/23/02) In May last year, Raydon Exploration of Oklahoma (OK) established the new McKinney North field in Meade county, southern Kansas. New information reveals that their #1-32 Classen Trust, spotted in approximately NE SW NE in section 32-T32S-R27W, was completed for a flow potential of 580 Mcf gas daily, plus one-half barrel of oil, no water. The new pool opener flowed natural gas and oil from perforations in a lower Chester Sand zone in the Mississippian formation between 5655 to 5671 feet. Top of the lower Chester Sand is logged at 5655 (-3176 KB). Total depth is 6017 feet. The well was State tested at a Calculated Absolute Open Flow potential of 4017 Mcf gas daily through a 2 inch orifice. Flowing tubing pressure registered 1167 psi. Raydon expanded the field in September ‘01 when they drilled and completed their #1-33 Reimer, C SW/4 of section 33, as a commercial gas well. No information has been released on the confirmation wells potential. Field area is located 3-3/4 miles south and 3 miles east of Meade, Kansas. 3) American Warrior’s Kiowa Bow Discovery Flowed 3143 Mcf Gas Daily (IOG Weekly 9/23/02) American Warrior, Garden City (KS), discovered the Kiowa Bow field in northwestern Comanche county in March last year. New information released showed that the discovery well was finaled for a State Open Flow potential of 3143 Mcf gas daily. Located in approximately S/2 NW NE in section 27-T31S-R20W, the well flowed natural gas from four sets of perforations in the Mississippian formation from 4974 to 5036 feet overall. Top of the Mississippian was called at 4974 (-3078 KB). The well was gauged through a 1-1/4 inch orifice under a 1110 psi flowing tubing pressure. The new strike was confirmed in May ‘01 when the #2 Randall, NW NW in Section 26, was completed for an undisclosed potential. Field area lies 3 miles north and 7-3/4 miles west of Coldwater, Kansas. 4) Strata Exploration Opens New Gas Field (IOG Weekly 10/07/02) Strata Exploration of Fairfield, Ill. Has
