The Digital Library Committee is pleased to announce important progress in the development and implementation of the Walters Digital Library.  The interface software, designed in conjunction with NET  IMPACT SOFTWARE, INC., is in final testing phase.  The software has been distributed to select members of the committee and the KGF/KGS boards for testing and for the purposes of promotion and money raising efforts. 

     The initial reactions have been enthusiastic.  Plans are for a free demo version of the software to be available to KGS members and interested parties in the near future.  The demo version will be fully functional but limited to a select demonstration area.  The software will be available on the KGS website "www.kgslibrary.com," the Foundation website "www.kgfoundation.org," and the project's website "www.rfwgeolibrary.com."  If all goes according to schedule, it will be available before the publish date of the next bulletin.

      The library is designed to be available for subscription January 01, 2003.  The details of pricing, term, etc. are being finalized at the time of this writing.  Central to the pricing structure is a very significant price break for KGS paper library members.  Details will be available on our websites as soon as possible. 

     We encourage you to download the demonstration version as soon as it is available. As you know, if you have kept up on the project's goals, all the document types in the KGS library are being scanned and will be available for viewing, printing, and downloading through the internet.  You won't need a state-of-the-art PC or a high speed internet connection for access.  Don't pass up the opportunity to test drive the system, we think you will be impressed and will quickly see the value of a subscription.
