FROM THE MANAGER'S DESK

Dear Members,

This year is well underway.  We had a wonderful Annual Banquet this year.  The turnout was better than it has been in years!  We had at least 189 people in attendance.  Thank you to all who came and all who worked and contributed to make it happen.  Doug Davis did a great job, please tell him thank you when you see him.  Please look for photos of the banquet throughout this issue.

Finally we are seeing the activity pick up in the library.  With the high oil and gas prices, we have been anticipating more activity in the state and we can only hope the pace steadily grows.  We love it when you all keep us busy around here!

For those of you that are in need of catching up on your CEUs, we have scheduled two field trips for this spring.  One is in conjunction with Wichita State University, with Dr. Wan Yang from the Geology Department.  He will be taking a limited number of people down into southeastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma to look at the Oread Cyclothem.  This trip will be on Saturday, March 29th with a lab class on Sunday, March 30th.  The other field trip will be to the Sternberg Museum in Hays on Saturday, May 3rd.  This trip will include a field trip out to the Castle Rock area to examine the Smokey Hill Formation as well as other formations where vertebrates were excavated.  More details on these field trips can be found on page 19.

Just a reminder that all Society and Library dues were due at the end of February.  We tend to be a little lenient but the cut off has come and gone by the time you receive this Bulletin, so if you have overlooked sending in your payments, please contact myself or Janice and make arrangements with us so you don’t loose your status.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and prosperous spring.

Respectfully submitted,

Rebecca Radford
