The AAPG of which the Kansas Geological Society is an Affiliated Society
held a Leadership Conference in Tulsa, February 21-23. Members in
leadership positions from all over the world attended. There was
a four hour session on how to make presentations presented by Jo Farrell,
a professional and former talk-show host from Denver, a four
hour session on “Information Based Governance within the Association” presented
by Glenn Tecker of New Jersey.
Six Breakout sessions were held: Global Geoscience Consortium, Student
Outreach, Public Outreach, Ethics, Membership Enhancement and Development,
and a Discussion on Sections and Regions..
The AAPG is currently attempting to enroll 1000 new members and has created
a display entitled the “Membership Value Pyramid”. There will
be membership application forms available at all KGS technical programs.
NOTICE
It has come to the
attention of the KGS Board, some new well information in the western ranges
of T30 S – T35 S had been held out of the library files for scanning into
the Walters Digital Library and was unavailable to the library membership.
This well information has now been integrated into the library files.
During the scanning process, some library material will occasionally be
unavailable to the membership. Library members should feel free to
contact library staff and inquire about data that may be temporarily unavailable.
