(1) Castelli Exploration Has New Field Discovery
(IOGsi Weekly News 09/01/03) - Thomas P. Cas-
telli, dba/ Castelli Exploration, Inc. of Oklahoma
City (OK), has established a new unnamed natural
gas field in Comanche County. Located about 14
miles southeast of the city of Coldwater, the Marsh
Ranch #1-17 started producing an undisclosed
amount of gas on June 15, 2003. Wildcat site is
located 1060 ft. from the north line and 1140 ft.
from the east line in section 17-T33s-R16W. The
well was drilled to a total depth of 5085 ft. with
productive zone being the Mississippian formation.
Kevin C. Davis served as wellsite geologist. The
new gas field is situated over 1-1/4 miles northwest
of Castelli's Dorsey Trust #2, located in approx i-
mately E/2 SE NW of section 21-T33s-R16W. The
well is part of the Ham Mississippian oil and gas
field. The Dorsey Trust was completed for 400 Mcf
gas per day from perforations at 4960 to 4966 ft. ear-
lier this year. Castelli has staked a new drill site in
approximately S/2 NE SE in section 17-T33s-R16W,
about midway between the Dorsey Trust and the
Marsh Ranch wells. Duke Drilling rig is expected
to move onto drill site soon.
(2) Carmen Schmitt Finals Discovery
(IOGsi Weekly News 09/26/03) - Carmen Schmitt,
Inc. of Great Bend has established the new Bison
Bluffs oil field in Lane County with the completion
of the Debbie #1 (IOG Weekly News 9/1/03). Lo-
cated 1320 ft. from the south line and 1650 ft. from
the west line in section 18-T16s-R27W, the well is
producing crude from perforated intervals in the up-
per Marmaton, Fort Scott and Lansing-Kansas City
limestones. Production depths have not been re-
leased, however, state production records show that
the well produced 1,446 barrels of oil in June `03,
the first and only month of recorded production to
date. Date of first sales was reported as June 26,
2003. The 4,590 foot deep well is located about
one mile north and 1/2 mile west of the town of
Pendennis, Kansas.
(3) Rupe Oil Company Adds New Pay to Empire
Field (IOGsi Weekly News 09/26/03) -Rupe Oil
Company, Inc., Wichita (KS), has successfully con-
