Kansas City. Burt left the organization in 1980
and in 1984 sold his share of production.
He remained active in the oil industry until
1985 when the joined Payne Weber as a stock-
broker. Burt subsequently left Payne Weber in
1988 and was associated with the Sun Corpora-
tion from then until 1991 when he was diag-
nosed with throat cancer. Burt battled this dis-
ease for 3 years, but has now recovered with
some lingering side effects.
Although he is not currently a member of the
KGS, he has been in the past when he was ac-
tive in the industry. As to the future, Burt says
that he probably will be in and out of small
businesses. One of his goals is to improve his
golf game.
Even though Burt has not been active in
practicing geology for the last few years, he
leaves no doubt that if he had it to do over he
would still be a petroleum geologist. He makes
the interesting observation that he always appre-
ciated the integrity of the people that he dealt
with in the "oil business."
