(1) Hess Oil Company Has Discovery
(IOGsi Weekly News 02/23/04)
- Independent oil
producer Hess Oil Company, of McPherson (KS),
has discovered Cherokee Sand oil deposits at the
June #1, located in approximately SW SW NW in
section 21-T15s-R22W, in Trego County. The wild-
cat well is currently on pump producing at the rate of
15 barrels of oil and 2 barrels of water per day. The
well was drilled to a total depth of 4300 ft. using
Mallard JV rotary tools. Plug-back total depth is
4246 ft. Pay zone has been perforated with eight
shots per foot from 4202 to 4206 ft. Site is located 6-
1/2 miles north and 2-1/4 miles west of Brownell,
Kansas. The new discovery was made at site located
nearly 3/4-mile northwest of the one-well Page
Creek North Field that was discovered by Sunburst
Exploration Company in December, 1987. Sunburst's
Ryan 'C' #1, SE SE SW in section 21, was completed
for 50 barrels of oil per day, no water. The well
has produced slightly over 10,000 barrels of oil
to date from Cherokee Sands between 4139 to 4142
ft. and 4167 to 4174 ft. Hess Oil has staked
location to soon drill June #2 prospect in approxi-
mately NW NE SW of section 21. The offsetting
confirmation will be drilled by Murfin Drilling tools
to a proposed 4300 ft. The new field has been named
Page Creek North.

(2) Ritchie Exploration Finals Lane Discovery
(IOGsi Weekly News 02/23/04)
- A new unnamed
oil field has been established in northwestern Lane
County by Ritchie Exploration, Inc. of Wichita
(KS). The Stewart 32-A #1, located 1750 ft. from
the north line and 1120 ft. from the east line
(approx NW SE NE) in section 32-T16s-R30W, is
on pump producing an undisclosed amount of oil
from the Fort Scott Limestone member of the Mar-
maton formation. Site lies about 3/4-mile north of
Ritchie's M. Wilkens #1, NE/4 of section 5-T17s-
R30W, that has produced 11,462 barrels of oil from
the Lansing-Kansas City formation. The well
established the Brand Southwest Field in June,
2002. Closest known Marmaton pay in the vicinity
of the new discovery is located nearly 2-1/4 miles
away in the Healy West Field. The field is located
about 1-1/8 miles north and 1-3/4 miles west of
